Peace of Mind for Your Family

No one likes to think about it, but life insurance is one of the most important things you can do for the people you love. If something happened to you tomorrow, would your family be okay? Could they keep the house? Would the kids still be able to go to college? Would your spouse have time to grieve without immediately worrying about money?

These are the conversations Jeremy Pressley has with WNC families every week. He's a family man himself — Haywood County roots, Mars Hill University grad, 20+ years in insurance. He's not trying to sell you the biggest policy possible. He's trying to make sure the right people are protected if the worst happens.

The Pressley Group shops multiple carriers to find you the best combination of coverage and cost. And unlike buying a policy online, when you have questions — now or 10 years from now — you call our office and talk to a person who knows your policy. That's not something you get from a comparison website.

We serve families throughout Haywood, Jackson, and Swain counties — from Waynesville and Canton to Sylva, Bryson City, Franklin, and beyond. A conversation costs nothing. Call (828) 452-1898 and we'll figure out what makes sense for your family.

Types of Life Insurance

Term Life Insurance

Coverage for a specific period (10, 20, or 30 years). Most affordable option. Great for young families with temporary needs like mortgages and kids' college.

Whole Life Insurance

Lifetime coverage that builds cash value over time. Higher premiums but never expires. Good for estate planning and lifelong protection.

Universal Life

Flexible premiums and coverage amounts. Combines death benefit with cash value accumulation. Adjustable as your needs change.

Life Insurance FAQ

How much life insurance do I actually need?

A common starting point is 10–12 times your annual income, but the right number depends on your debts, dependents, savings, and goals. The NC Department of Insurance has a free consumer guide on life insurance basics. Jeremy will walk you through a simple needs analysis at no cost — just call and we'll work through it together.

What's the real difference between term and whole life?

Term life covers you for a set period — 10, 20, or 30 years — at lower cost. It's the most popular choice for young families protecting a mortgage or raising kids. Whole life covers you for your entire life and builds cash value over time, but costs significantly more. Most people in their 30s and 40s start with term. We'll tell you honestly which makes sense for your situation — not which costs more.

Can I get life insurance if I have a health condition?

Often yes. Many health conditions don't disqualify you — they may affect pricing or add time to underwriting. Some policies require no medical exam at all. The best approach is to call us and describe your situation. We shop multiple carriers and can often find options that a single-carrier agent couldn't offer you.

How quickly can I get covered?

Some no-exam policies offer same-day or next-day coverage. Traditional underwritten policies take 2–6 weeks. If you need coverage quickly — new baby, new mortgage, new business loan — tell us and we'll find the fastest path that still gives you real protection.

Is employer life insurance enough, or should I have my own policy?

Employer-provided coverage is usually 1–2x your salary — often not enough, and you lose it entirely if you change jobs or get laid off. A personal policy stays with you regardless of employment and can be sized to your family's actual needs. We recommend having both if employer coverage is available to you.
